Resume Deomali Hill camping, Part-1
Night camping at Deomali Hill. Let’s start from the end where we left part-1. You can click here to read the Part-1.
After setting up our tent, chairs, and bonfire, we took a roam around the area. Then we gathered around the bonfire for a cosy evening afterwards with a chilling mood. By that time, it was almost dark, and the temperature was falling.

Ethereal experience at Deomali:
We started to much the snacks and started gossiping. Gradually, there was only the blend of flaming and smouldering fire of the various bonfires around the campsite. It was so soothing and peaceful. That is when we discovered a landscape that was so
Ethereal !!! Celestial !!
The sight of the night sky. Let me break it down here.
Reliving a long-shot memory:
We are millennials who spent their childhood at suburbs. We used to go to the roof whenever there was a power failure in the locality. And with siblings and cousins, we got busy with casual stargazing and munching snacks. Now cut back to the present.
The night at Deomali Hills took us back to our childhood days. The sky was clean, profoundly colourful and vibrant. This was an extremely rare occasion in our present day. The sky above us was full of zillions of stars, planets, comets and asteroids. One can see all these with her/his bare eyes. It looked like someone had casually spread a big bowl of mystically multicoloured gemstones on a pitch-black blanket.
A few astro glimpses:
The first sight of it made us spellbound for a moment. Words can express neither our bewilderment nor the magnanimous beauty. The sky was clear; we could even see constellations like the Orion constellation!! I am trying to depict, through some amateur photography, I hope this may help you to visualise the splendour.
Under this greatness, we did the mandatory that should be done by any earthlings, exchanging memories and feeling grateful to the Almighty for letting us experience a small showcasing of supremacy through this mega event of the universe.
The Night later at Deomali:
As the night grew darker, the temperature slipped lower, and the silence of the world deepened, the only crackling sound of the bonfire woods was making the night more and more magical. We were gathering closer to the bonfire. After consuming the essence of the night a little longer, we decided to call it a night and went inside the tent. The tent was basic but with thick material, so it does not feel wet on a chilly night. They also provided blankets, pillows and mattresses.
The Morning with Freshness at Deomali:
I woke up around 6 A.M. The weather was a little bit warmer, but still could give us shivers. The Sun might not be seen yet, but the blush of early sun stirs the hills and the forests. The bonfire’s flame may be dimming then, although one could get some necessary warmth to start an energetic day. We started packing for the return journey, but not in a hurry. Then we bid adieu to Deomali Hills, with hopes for returning whenever life’s energies run low and the spirit needs mending.
