ARTKARNA – A SCENIC FARM STAY RETREAT IN GOKARNA

This time, I was searching for a quality place to stay that does not burn a hole in your pocket, it took a while to find such a place. If there is a place which is with a good location that charges very high if the rate is acceptable the room condition does not look very promising. As Gokarna does not have many hotels, most of the accommodations are homestays, and sometimes owner-given photos can be deceptive. Hence, after researching a bit I found ARTKARNA, which looked quite trustworthy. And when we experienced it, Arttkarna made me quite proud of my choice. Let me share it in detail.

ArtKarna Location

Arttkarna is situated near the Gokarna main beach. It takes nearly 30 minutes to reach there from the railway station and the auto charged INR 300. It was peak season, the rate may be less at other times. You can also reach there by your own vehicle, they have a decent space for parking.

ArtKarna First Impression & reception:

Gokarna is very different from Goa or Puducherry, from the station to the accommodation to the beach and every surrounding gives you the vibe of undisturbed nature far from urbanization. When we reached Artkarna, we found the property in the middle of the serenity of undisturbed nature on a sleepy afternoon. As you enter the main gate you can see, an aunty is scolding you to wash your feet before going any further. Don’t worry, it is just graffiti to remind wash your feet after coming from the beach. Anyways we appeared at the reception and met a wonderful jovial person – Abhijeet.  Abhijeet helps everyone a lot and he manages to run the property smoothly. Room:

ARTKARNA has different types of rooms. We booked a Standard AC double room. The room and bathroom were neat and clean with every basic amenities, you need for a beachside tourist spot. In addition to these, there was a hanging swing chair in the middle of the room. The chair was absolutely a beautiful bonus. There were two rooms including ours. A common balcony is outside the rooms, the common balcony is so big you will feel like a private space along with separate tables and armchairs.

Beach proximity:

Now here is the catch, Google Maps will show you that the main beach is 10 minutes on a two-wheeler, but there is a shortcut from ARTKARNA through which the beach is just 500 meters away. The path is across an agriculture field, which will soothe your eyes also. Gokarna was safe for night wandering also.

ArtKarna Ambience:

ARTKARNA is a farmhouse. Our room and balcony are surrounded by a thicket of bamboo trees. We woke up to the chirps of birds. There is a tree house, a cricket net with kits, a pool table, a TT board, and lots of books. One can just spend quality time as per his choice.

ArtKarna Kitchen, breakfast, and Magic fridge:

ARTKARNA has a kitchen cum dining with friendly staff. They only serve complimentary breakfast and can make veg lunch if one has ordered earlier. The spread of breakfast is limited, only Neer dosa, Idli, poha, and Mangalore buns. But these items were made with so much care and love, every dish was delicious. One should try Neer Dosa and Mangalore Buns at ARTKARNA.

Now with our booking, they gave us access to a Magic fridge which was filled with mineral water bottles, soda, and soft drinks and we could take as much as we wanted for free of any charge. Please don’t misuse these refrigerator stocks, just take as much as you need.

Conclusion:

If ARTKARNA had a badminton court, it would have been more than perfect for us. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the management will listen to our request. And if the kitchen provides dinner, that would be the cherry on top.

Apart from these requests, ARTKARNA has made a place in our hearts. We felt sad at the time of leaving their hospitality and the ambience. We even got parting gifts which are very useful, you can consider this farm stay as a home away from home.
